You don't need an archive to request a quote – but ten minutes of preparation speeds things up a lot: if this information is at hand, the needs assessment gets straight to the point, and the table arrives sooner. Here's the list – no personal documents needed, and you can tick it off.
In short:- Five blocks: who + work + sport + what already exists + goals – all of it from memory, or a quick look at a document or two.
- Documents and policy numbers aren't needed in this first round – that's a job for the signing stage.
- For a company quote request, the list is focused on headcount and activities – that block is at the end.
Block 1: who is this for?
- ☐ The people to be insured and their year of birth (for a family, everyone who needs cover).
- ☐ Who's the earner, who depends on whose income – the basis for sizing the amounts.
Block 2: work
- ☐ Occupation – describing the ACTUAL work (what, where, with what tools/equipment): the classification rests on this.
- ☐ Self-employed or employee status – for estimating the sick-pay gap.
Block 3: sport
- ☐ The list of “yeses” from the sports risk self-check – for each family member.
- ☐ For children: club membership, whether they compete.
Block 4: what's already in place?
- ☐ A from-memory list of existing accident cover: workplace group cover? a school policy? a rider alongside another policy? a bank-card package?
- ☐ If you have your own policy: roughly what it covers (for the full review, the actual document will come in handy too).
Block 5: goals and budget
- ☐ What's your main concern? (Weeks off work / a severe case / the children / all of it.)
- ☐ What monthly budget would be comfortable? (Not a price negotiation – just a planning anchor.)
- ☐ Any special request (24-hour cover, working abroad, including a specific sport)?
Company block (if you're requesting a quote for a team)
- ☐ Headcount and the nature of the roles (the physical/office split, shift patterns).
- ☐ Is the plan uniform cover, or cover by category?
- ☐ Is the goal occupational-only or 24-hour cover? – the rollout article can help you decide.
